This is a very unique destination for anglers outside of Brazil. A brand new program that you can only find with “Peach – Fishing and Adventures”, and priced just right for you. In 6 days of fishing, you will have the opportunity to get into some big and mighty fish like the Payaras (“Cachorras”, in Portuguese), Sardinatas (“Apapás”, in Portuguese), Bicudas and, one of the most interesting species of Peacock Bass, the “Azul”.

The trip starts in Palmas, capital city of Tocantins (Brazil’s newest state, in the Amazon Region); from where we will drive for 4 hours to our main destinations. The first stop is in the Tocantins River, the second stop in on the lake above it. We will fish for 3 days in each location.

The Tocantins river, one of the most famous rivers in Brazil, is known for its mix of fast and slow waters and also for being the habitat of some very large Payaras, Apapás and Bicudas. All these species are very fun to catch with a fly rod, and each one of them offer their own challenges. Our fishing will be done out of  aluminum Jon boats, which are best to navigate the river’s currents and often rocky bottom. During that period we will stay in a nice little B&B in a small village by the river.

Then, we will drive for less than one our to reach the ranch by the lake where will spend the next 3 days of fishing. To quickly reach our fishing spots, we will use Bass Boats and Sport Bass boats. Our main target on the lake will be the Peacock Bass Azul, one of the 15 members of the Peacock Bass family.  The Azul does not grow as big as the world famous Açu (Temensis), but we will  fish for them in the same location where the world record was broken (a very nice 26.7” Azul)..

The fishing in this are is fantastic and not very well known outside of Brazil. But it is not only about the fishing, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the Amazon on its entirety; to wake up with the sound of macaws (and perhaps a couple of hyacinth macaw), see the Tucanos flying up close, have encounters with our giant otters (or perhaps a Cougar), and to have a taste of the fabulous regional cuisine, are just part of that experience.

In addition, we do expect to be able to sightfish for a great part of the trip; which is an amazing opportunity and a dream of any jungle angler.
